Abstract:
This research aims at identifying the role of documentaries in developing kindergartener’s attitude towards dealing with climate variables, identifying climate variables’ dimensions suitable for the kindergartener, and introducing new climate variables’ presentation modes enabling the kindergarten teacher to attract the attention of the kindergartener to climate variables. The research utilised both the analytic, descriptive approach to describe the variables of the research and the quasi-experimental design having two equivalent control and experimental groups.
On the one hand, pre-post tests were used with both groups to identify the effectiveness of using documentaries in developing kindergartener’s attitude towards dealing with climate variables. On the other hand, iterative test was used with only the experimental group to identify the effectiveness of using documentaries in developing kindergartener’s attitude towards dealing with climate variables.
Some of the most important results were a) there were statistically significant differences at 0.05 level between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control one in the post- attitude towards dealing with climate variables’ scale (its dimension and total score) in favour of the experimental group’s results and b) the effectiveness of the programme based on documentaries in developing kindergartener’s attitude towards dealing with climate variables: feeling the climate variables, being aware of the implications of climate variables, and mechanisms of coping with climate variables. Finally, the research recommended the importance of increasing female kindergarten teachers’ awareness of climate variables, especially the surprising ones and connecting these variables to the kindergartener’s real life.
