Abstract:
The study aimed to prepare a program based on the central coherence theory to reduce the severity of anxiety among children with autism spectrum disorder, and the main study sample consisted of (10) children (6 males, 4 females) of autism spectrum disorder children.
Their chronological ages ranged between (4: 8) years, IQ ranged between (74: 83) degrees, and the autism spectrum disorder rate ranged between (90: 98) degrees, at Al-Nour Center for Communication and Training in Minya Governorate, and the homogeneity of the sample was taken into account. The study, in terms of: mental age, convergence of autism rates, and psychological problems in children.
The researcher used: Gilliam Scale for diagnosing autism spectrum disorder (Arabization of Adel Abdullah, 2006), Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale, fifth picture (Arabization: Mahmoud Abu El-Nil, 2011), a scale of anxiety for children with autism spectrum disorder (prepared by: the researcher). The program (prepared by: the researcher), the semi-experimental approach was used for one experimental group, following the measurement (pre-, post-, follow-up).
 The results of the study found:
1- There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post applications of anxiety scale for children with autism spectrum disorder (the study sample) in favor of the post measurement.
 2- There are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the post and follow-up applications of anxiety scale for children with autism spectrum disorder (the study sample).
