Abstract:
The current study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a counseling program based on the theory of mind to reduce disturbances in style and speech patterns in a sample of (9) children with autism spectrum disorder, with an average score of (73.91), and an average intelligence of (91.5). The researcher used the quasi-approach. In order to verify the validity of the study's hypotheses and answer its questions, a set of tools was used: a measure of disordered style and speech patterns for children with autism spectrum disorder (prepared by the researcher), and the Gilliam-3 scale for estimating autism. Translated by Adel Abdullah, Abeer Abu Al-Magd (2020), and the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (5th Edition), translated and codified by Safwat Farag (2011), and a counseling program based on the theory of mind to reduce the disturbance of style and speech patterns among children on the autism spectrum (prepared by the researcher).
The results of the study found that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.01) between the mean scores of the pre and post measurement scores on the Disorders of Style and Speech Patterns scale in favor of the post measurement, and there were no statistically significant differences between the post and follow-up measurements on the Disorders of Style and Speech Patterns scale. Speech patterns, and in the light of what the results indicated, the study recommended the importance of focusing on the use of programs based on the tasks of theory of mind within the rehabilitation programs for children with autism spectrum disorder to deal with language disorders of all kinds and their associated symptoms.
